Lots of discretionary trading

I've been trading a lot in my discretionary account. My bottom line took a huge hit when I moved and was without internet access for a couple of weeks. Now I'm clawing my way back up and trying not to let another account drown. I've made a couple of solid trades but I keep getting taken out by long-standing positions.

Idea: maybe I need to set a limit to the amount of time I let a position run regardless of the current state (in or out of the money) of the position
